Beal Apollo 11.0 – Golden Dry

The Beal Apollo is among the toughest of the tough to take abuse in climbing gyms and big walls alike. It’s larger diameter size makes for a confident belay and a its sheath is capable of withstanding the constraints of Big Wall climbing.

Golden Dry treatment means both the sheath and the core are treated. This way the rope has an astonishing water impermeability and incredible durability. In 2012 the UIAA adopted a new requirement for hydrophobic ropes that is now in full force. In this test a rope is subjected to light abrasion and soaked for 15 minutes. The amount of absorbed water must not be greater than 5% of the sample’s weight. Beal’s Golden Dry ropes easily qualify as “UIAA Water Repellent.” A non-treated rope absorbs between 40% and 50% of its weight in water.
